Position Overview:
As a strategic partner, this is a supervisory position that involves providing technical environmental, health, & safety support to the Operations team and leading the site HSE Coordinators.  Role will partner with the Safety Director in developing, leading, and implementing HSE initiatives and objectives including coordinating safety training programs, developing risk reduction plans, driving a behavior-based safety culture, and providing technical support to ensure compliance with all regulations.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provides technical safety and health support and information to the site Operations team and members of the HSE support team.
  • Direct management responsibility for two hourly HSE Coordinators.
  • Ensure site enforcement of written environmental, health, and safety programs and policies.
  • Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs in partnership with the Learning and Development Manager.
  • Contributes to company safety and health goals.
  • Interact and engage with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and project engineers to identify and correct safety and health issues prior to equipment and machinery purchases and installation.
  • Participates in new product / process reviews including process hazard analyses, operator training, Job Safety Analysis, etc
  • Conducts risk assessments and trains others in conducting risk assessments.
  • Investigates all accidents and ensures corrective actions are implemented across the site.
  • Leads multi-year machine guarding assessment process in collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Understands Federal and State occupational safety and health regulations and monitor regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Serves as a mentor for site EHS Coordinators to drive development and growth of the HSE team.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Environmental:
  • Collaborate with external consultants to manage air permitting requirements for Title V facility.
  • Ensure timely reporting of environmental and sustainability data to Milan on a quarterly basis.
  • Manage facility SWPPP Plan and ensure the facility is complying with its requirements.
  • Ensure that various waste streams are managed and disposed of properly.
  • Communicate with TCEQ, EPA, DOT, and any other agencies that oversee environmental regulations at the facility.

Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Ideally a bachelor's or advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, Environmental, or related technical discipline. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of HSE experience in manufacturing environments preferably managing HSE professionals.
  • Displays strong problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, NEC, TCEQ, and EPA regulations.
  • Travel up to 10%.
