Quality Engineer (Manufacturing)

Summary:
The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and supports quality assurance activities across the manufacturing process. This role helps ensure products meet specifications, reduce scrap, and maintain compliance with the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS). The position works with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and address quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Optical Cable testing and inspection processes to ensure product quality.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining inspection and test procedures.
  • Maintain records to demonstrate compliance with specifications.
  • Support sampling methods and basic control plans to meet quality requirements.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and customer issues.
  • Review returned materials and support investigation of quality complaints.
  • Help manage nonconforming material documentation and track related metrics.
  • Monitor and report quality performance metrics.
  • Identify quality trends and support problem-solving activities.
  • Support plant quality standards and QMS requirements.
  • Assist with customer and regulatory audits/inspections.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and other departments to improve processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of quality systems and tools (SPC, root cause analysis, control plans).
  • Proficiency in Quality Management Systems like ISO 9001.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar systems.

Experience:
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or quality experience.
  • Familiarity with ISO or similar quality standards.
  • Exposure to root cause analysis, corrective actions, or Lean tools.
  • Wire & cable or similar industry experience is a plus.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred (Strong relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered must have HS Diploma or GED at the minimum).
