Team Overview and Job Responsibilities:
What you'll do:
The Quality Engineer will work with multiple departments focusing on analytic support, QMS and gauging improvements throughout the manufacturing plant. Responsibilities will include activities such as monitoring performance of quality assurance standards, processes, and controls.
Principle Functional Responsibilities:
- Development of methods for inspection, product sampling, and training. Evaluates production capabilities and recommends improvements. Provides quality assurance support to ensure that the products produced are manufactured in accordance with the specifications and requirements as defined by the customer and/or industry standards. Provides manufacturing support with data analysis and evaluations as well as assists in maintaining the Quality Management System.
- MSA Support: Identify and address gauging usage and application through MSA and recommends improvements to address gauging accuracy, stability, and operator influence.
- QMS Support: Performs/participates in required audits of product and QMS performance, identifies gaps in QMS and works to address while maintaining conformance to current revision of ISO9001.
- Continuous Improvement Support: Assist in product analysis, process capability and assigned DMIAC projects as applicable. Working with Quality Manager, analyze processes and identify areas of improvement to ensure RTFT (Right the First Time), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and other Quality KPIs are achieved
Who are we looking for?
A result-driven individual with proven ability to work in a high-performance manufacturing environment with a passion for quality engineering. Good attention to details, but able to see the big picture. Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure. Must be able to drive projects. Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities and technical understanding. Good written and oral communication skills. High energy; demonstrates urgency and fast pace. Utilizes leadership attributes to interpret the toughest situations in a constructive and empowering way and drive vision for the organization. Ability to motivate and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Education:
BS degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related OR at least 5 years of applicable direct experience within the Quality field in lieu of BS Degree – required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of quality or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment – required.
- Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in manufacturing and production processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Programs.
- Knowledge of DMAIC problem solving, MSA (Gage R&R) application and evaluation, basic quality improvement tools (8D, 5WHY, etc.).
- Effectively uses quality tools and techniques to assist in determining compliance to specifications, trends, capabilities, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Experience with QMS management and improvement a must.
- Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and pertinent software.
- MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint.
- SAP experience and Advanced MS Excel capability desired but not required.
- SPC Software (Minitab).
- Must possess good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with others efficiently and effectively either one-on-one, as a team, or in a group with a positive attitude.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with good verbal and writing skills.
- Ability to utilize problem solving skills and techniques to achieve problem resolution.
- Problem solving skills may include experience with; ISO QMS Management, documentation creation and management.
- Lean/Six Sigma Education / Experience.
- Quality systems auditing experience.
- ASQ Certification in Quality Engineering is a plus.
- Experience with wire and cable is a plus.
- Ability to travel 2-3 times a year if needed.
